Must have missed something, but can someone please explain what was going on when Mateo is videoed by Ray X at the end, and what the booklet Ray gives Mateo while filming signifies? It felt like Ray was finishing his documentary about the story, but I thought it was already completed?
shareMateo intends to blackmail Ray X after finding out he and Lena were betrayed by Judit. Regardless whether or not Ray X was involved in the accident, he plans to use Judit's story to extort the money. Mateo is obviously bitter about the revenge exacted upon him.
Ray however seems infatuated with Mateo, or perhaps feels guilt over what occurred, so he's continuing to film one of his favorite subjects, even as Mateo is filmed confessing his intentions toward Cortina's son.
The "booklet" is the homemade DVD copy of his footage shot during the making of "Chicas y Maletas." It includes the footage of the accident, the last kiss between Mateo and Lena, and Ray X's reaction to the accident proving he never intended to harm either of them.
His original documentary was assumed to be finished when he originally approached Harry/Mateo, but Judit's confession leading to Mateo's reaction can be seen as a continuation and ending of Ray X's original documentary, which parallels the re-edit of 'Chicas y Maletas', which is itself a sort of remake of Almodovar's "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown." Phew!
