I just watched this film, and the attack took place on miss douglas in 1937, the headlines it says she is 17. At the end of the movie it states in her memory her year of birth to year of death as 1917-2003, which would have made her 20, maybe 19 when the crime was commited. Maybe it's an error in the film.
shareI wondered the same thing. Although perhaps the papers changed her age to 17 to make better headlines. Wouldn't have been the first time a newspaper trumped up the details to sell papers.
shareThe first things I read about this movie was the underage girls. I was under the impression they were 10-12 years old, by the way people were commenting. Though no ages were mentioned, comments like "so young" and little girl" don't seem to imply aged 17. In no way am I saying what happened is right but 17 is not a little girl.
It reminds me of a news story about a child prostitution ring. Yes, there was one 10yo, some 16/17, but most were adult. 16/17 year old crack whores (no discrimination intended) are of no interest to paedophiles. That news story and this movie are nothing more than fear mongering. Again, I am not arguing in defense of the actions, just commenting on the fear mongering of the police/media.
