What a surprisingly good film!!!!

well i have just watched this fantastic movie and just HAD to have my say.... What a brilliant, quirky, fantastic film this is!!! It has a brilliant ensemble cast, who has excellent comic timing, and was a joy to watch from start to finish. There were plenty on hidden in-jokes to keep us film buffs amused and the writers and production team clearly love the whole sci fi (sorry, Science Fiction) genre! The genre in the UK has been overshadowed somewhat in recent years by the reinvention of Dr Who, so it is refreshing to see film makers take a step towards comedy and the tradions set by Red Dwarf (BBC take note. Shouldn't leave it to DAVE to ressurect a much loved TV Show grrrrr). I did not read the RT review, but I gather it was somewhat harsh. It is, the first feature film from director Gareth Carrivick, who is sadly no longer with us, after there were complications with stem cell surgury for leukaemia. I think there can be more fitting a tribute to this director who has worked on Goodness Gratious Me, The Vicar of Dibley and Two pints of Lager and a packet of crisps, that so mant people have clearly enjoyed this film for the first time tonight. I hope they do make a follow up, maybe a direct sequel, or maybe an unrelated film to throw our hapless heroes into...maybe Frequently Asked Questions About... Alien Abduction / Conspiracy Theories / Expence Claims etc etc. Overall though, this is a must see movie, and I have added it to my DVD to buy list :o)

Thirded!

Loved this film from start to finish. I haven't watched a film where I felt like that in a long time. It made me proud of our British sense of humour and that no where else inthe world could a film like FAQ about Time Travel be made. The cast were brilliant, the script great and the plot fantastic. I am so glad I watched this little gem as I had no idea it was on or what it was about. I am so glad I was not the only one who found this film highly, highly entertaining and quite thought provoking too. :-)

I watched it tonight and thought it was very entertaining too. My wife wasn't keen on watching it - she thought it was going to be a dry documentary about time travel! After watching the intro she got into it and sat through it all. Now she wants to re-watch it to see if all the near-misses with previous/future versions of the main characters work properly. (She likes films/TV that make her think about what she's watching).

I hope that other's aren't put off watching it from the title being slightly mis-leading.

PS. Nice to see Chris O'Dowd can play a different character to Roy in The IT Crowd.

Have to agree.

I was expecting "Bill & Ted" (not a good thing) but got shades of "Hitch-Hiker's Guide" on acid. (a very good thing.)

Also Anna Farris's new lips. (A questionable thing that I can live with.)

I had a similar reaction to that of the OP--I'd recommend this movie highly. It was clever, interesting, and nicely acted.

Not knowing anything about it but intrigued by the title, I had turned it on--and nearly turned it off when Anna Faris's name came onscreen. That wasn't due to any dislike of A.F., but to my assumption that this movie would turn out to be another unfunny compilation of 'jokes' about recent genre pictures (a la the 'Scary Movie' series).

But I was wrong (and I thought better of Anna, too, after seeing what she could do when not having to deal with an endless stream of celebrity look-alikes, pea soup, fake cats, rubber knives, etc.)

I need to see this so bad, i wish i had HBO!

Can't you just buy the DVD? Order it off Amazon if you have too.

I enjoyed it as well. In the scene where they encountered a bunch of look-alikes, dressed just like them, I was almost anticipating an homage to David Gerrold's "The Man who Folded Himself" which would have been quite an interesting approach and turn in the film, but probably would have taken it in a direction they couldn't resolve. I was quite content with the result of this film and was so happy to see the actress do something more with her life than what I'm used to seeing.

Overall, 6.8 stars.

I'm holding everyone to a higher standard- a standard much higher than my own
