A couple of jokes I didn't get.... (please explain)

Okay these are a few jokes I didn't get and would love it if you can explain it to me.

1." I used to drive the sets for the who on their world tours, 'till i found out something about pete townsend i didn't like. And all i'll say is, and i said it to his face, where is the book?"... I wasn't sure if we were supposed to get this one, but if someone does please explain :)

2. " It won't be john from anne and john"... Again wasn't sure if we were supposed to get this one. Oh wait, I get it :) Anne and John darwin, the canoe guy... :) Haha

Okay I suppose its just that one then :)

Pete Townsend was arrested for looking at child pornography on the internet. He was traced by his credit card. In his defence, he claimed he was only doing it to research a book he was writing
