Hi yaaa


The greeting everyone uses on the show (Hiyaaa), I have lived in Britain in the mid 90's (essex and london mostly) and never heard that. Is it a welsh thing? or a recent development?

I'm American and my grandmother always says Hiya. I have no clue where she got it from.

It's a common informal greeting in Britain now, can't remember the last time i heard anyone say 'hello'.

Can't speak for all Welsh people, but I say it, so do my husband, brother parents and in-laws. None of us are from Barry. My family's from Cardiff and husband and family are from Pontypridd.
