US DVDs are edited --- buyer beware

Don't get burned like I did. I bought them separately, so we can assume that all US region 1 dvds are the cut version, whether part of the complete set or sold separately.

FWIW, the loss of the s2 music was especially disappointing. That's when Gavin & Stacey's relationship derails and they argue a lot. The music in the original broadcasts really helped.

The xmas special is also impaired by the loss of Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You" which usually gets the ep off to a festive start. Without it, there's none of the spirit at the beginning of the ep, which consequently drags and doesn't really get rolling until Smithy starts singing in his car (several minutes into the ep!).

I'm sure there are other missing songs and scenes, but I stopped watching at the beginning of the xmas ep. I'm going to wait and watch the entire series after ordering the UK version.

Question for the Brits: Is the UK DVD set really complete? Please confirm.

Hi there - please be careful about this. My son brought back the UK version of the DVD set and they would not play on our North American DVD player. SOOOOOO disappointed. So we just ended up buying all the episodes, plus the Christmas Special, on iTunes. We've watched some of them on airplane trips and laughed our heads off - sorry, fellow passengers! 

I have several all-region dvd players, so that's not a problem for me.

Did you check to see if any of your dvd players can be unlocked? Many players can (not Sony), it's a simple procedure of entering a code (found on internet) using the remote control and changing the setting from 1 to 0.

I've been watching my region 2 complete series boxed set again and I just had to pop in here and say thanks again for confirming about this set. It's so great to be able to watch the complete eps!
