In the ill-fated bomber mission where the remote-control bomber blew up in midflight before the pilots could bail. It sounds like President Kennedy's older brother Joseph Kennedy was in that mission

"He was killed on August 12, 1944 while flying a secret mission to knock out Hitler's V1 Rockets. His plane, weighted down with explosives, exploded over the English Channel. The reasons why the plane exploded remain a mystery."

Yes, he was.

In fact, back in the late 70's there was a TV movie called "Young Joe, the Forgotten Kennedy." (I think Peter Strauss played Joe, but I could be remebering incorrectly.)

I didn't see all of it, but I did see his death in the exploding B-24.
