People say this show is supposedly "so smart" but there's a huge plot hole

So Hank was "onto" Jesse from early on and thought he was up to something

But um, they never once had any surveillance on him to catch him getting a visit from Walter, they missed it every single time Walter went to his place... or called his number (the two of them only ever mentioned using a disposable cell phone once, in the 1st series - and they always knew each other's numbers)

And we're supposed to believe they didnt find out until the last series, that Walter was the kingpin?

It also asks us to believe that what is revealed to be a multinational drugs operation is wholly dependent upon one individual New Mexican ex-teacher to produce their product, assisted by one clown and policed by one heavy.

It's not so smartz...

the show has massive plot holes but we let it slide for the fantasy of walt outsmarting everyone. almost none of the aspects in the show is realistic except for his relationship with his family. it's even worse in better call saul. i enjoyed it the first time around but bcs is completely bullshit. none of his tricks were plausible on second viewing.

Gotta milk the cult for every dollar!

They were onto him from the beginning, but Hank never realizes he paid $400k cash to buy a house.

Most fans explain this away with some Saul Goodman hand waving, but if Hank suspected him that much, the cash purchase of the house would be a gaping entry.
