Do people have a favourite episode?

I always have such a hard time picking a favourite. Some series it's easier than others, but Breaking Bad I find particularly difficult because there are so many high-quality episodes and so many have great moments.

The finale is near-perfect, but so is Ozymandias. So is Dead Freight. So is Crazy Handful of Nothin'.

I think the reason I have trouble is because they did such a great job of keeping the storyling plowing forward - linking every episode, constantly ratcheting everything up, finding all the right moments and beats for each story - that it becomes difficult to pick just one moment or entry.

Salud - season 4 - Walt and Jesse are held captive for Gus, after Gale's death. Meanwhile, Skyler tries to find out what happened to Walt.

Excellent choice. What is it about that particular episode that makes Salud stand out to you?

That is a classic moment. It shows the scope of his power, his planning (literally years), his ruthlessness, how he holds a grudge, and the lengths he's willing to go for his goals (what he does to himself!) It's a great character moment and a great scene.

All the tension at the end of the episode was kind of thrilling in a weird way. Walt manically laughing was pretty chilling stuff also. You knew something big was coming and that was exciting.

Yeah, yeah, absolutely; great stuff. It's a classic example of Breaking Bad constantly ratcheting up the tension. Just when it can't go higher... Plus, the converging stories (Skyler/Ted with Walter/Gus) is great.

My favourite part of that one is when Kuby and Huell visit Ted and everything is going okay until Ted makes a random mad-dash for the exit. Kuby and Huell just kinda watch him, like, "What does this schmuck think he's going to accomplish by doing this?" and then...WHAMMO!

I had to look it up, partly 'cause I'm bad with episode titles and partly 'cause the episodes kinda blur together for me.

Yes, that ending is so chilling. It's really dark, just this moment of "Everything's fine and going to be getting better," followed by that push-in camera move that just says, "Oh, you thought we'd leave you feeling out of the woods?" Classic Breaking Bad!

I love hearing all of these. One of the reasons I have a hard time picking a favourite is because of how smoothly they make the plot move, so episodes get a little blurry, where one stops and one starts, but some of them have those great "BOOM" endings that just make you go, "Ah, yes...!"

I love the series, but I think I love all episodes the same? Maybe the one that really strikes me would be the finale, which I consider to be one of the better TV finales ever.

Yeah, that's kinda where I am, too.

The finale is one of the best ones. It gives closure, feels great. Ends naturally.
