did the turkish torture scene actually happen?

anyone know the truth?

reply

No it didn't, just another of many segments in this film that are figments of Mr. Leach's imagination.

turks are always portrayed as brutal bloodlusty barbaric criminals/persons. the legend of attila and the ottomans never went away.

It wasn't in the book, so I doubt it.

The movie is not that accurate. Tucker actually seemed like a decent bloke in the movie, but in the book it suggests that he was hated throughout the time of the gangs rise and fall. There certainly wasn't the tears portrayed at the end.

Tucker also led Nigel Benn in to the ring for his world title fight against Gerald McClellan in London. I found it odd that there was no mention of this in the movie. It demonstrated how high profile Tucker was in the underworld, where as in the movie he looked like a small time idiot.

It was Tucker who was out of control according to the book, not Tate, who was much more controlled. And Rolf's father was found murdered in a vehicle, a sad irony mentioned at the beginning of the book.

Its annoying that they ignored and changed facts, that were actually more interesting than the fiction they came up with. But still a great movie.
