Yeah I was joking regarding the movies that I mentioned.
For me, the movies you have listed don't really tell the story of the Essex hits, with the exception of Essex Boys - That was "the" official film, and made reference to Leah Betts.
The rest of those movies aren't accurate or related in anyway. They are just riding on the name of the original movie. They don't tell the story, not even from a different prospective.
The Hit, is set in Spain? I'm not sure why you think that movie could in anyway be telling the story of what happened in Essex on Dec 6 1995?
My point was and is, that there have only been two movies about the incident that tells the actual story; Essex boys and Rise of the Foot Soldier. The rest of the movies are trading off the original name and adding nothing to the original story, or offering a different prospective of the incident.
Rise of the Foot Soldier is the better movie of the two, but Essex Boys is more accurate. having said that, the murder scene and blast injuries are very accurate in Rise of the Foot Soldier. If you check the book out, the description of the blast wounds along with the actual pictures of the wounds are frighteningly similar to those in the movie.
What I suspect will happen is the two men convicted of the murders will be released from prison at some point, and when that happens we will get another movie. They are currently under appeal and have always protested their innocence.
I suspect that Michael Steele and Jack Whomes didn't carry out those murders, based on what I have read. However, I suspect that they may in the past have gotten away with crimes that carried similar sentences to the ones which they are currently serving.
That's what I love about Rise of the Foot Soldier; the undertone is that in the end, one way or another justice always finds people who live that lifestyle. Two men went to prison for the wrong crime, but they ended up in the right place. Three men died, and society was better off as a result - is the general feel to the movie's ending.
There are quite a few...(7 that I can count in my head)
Essex Boys- starring my boyfriend (LOL) Sean Bean, Rise of the Footsoldier, Bonded by Blood, The Fall of the Essex Boys, Essex Boys: Retribution and Rise of the Footsoldier: Part 2
Essex Boys- Truth is a documentary about the rise and fall of the original Essex Boys, and the next generation who followed them.
