I found myself blankly staring at my television set after this ended last night.

What the HELL was it supposed to be?

Why did Mary not confront Greville-if he was real?
If he wasn't real, what was he?
Why didn't he age? What was the 'help me' about?
Was Mary schizophrenic, leading to her thinking he was there?

I really did not understand this, the reviews I read previously hyped it up a lot and I was left feeling very disappointed.
The costumes and sets were good, as was the screenplay- heck, the acting was good. I just have no idea what the story was, which dampens the effect of the acting.
I must say I was impressed with David Williams. I found him enjoyable in Little Britain, but he never ceases to amaze me-he's a much better actor then people give him credit for.

right...... this is just the opinion of a small, equally confused girl, but, here goes...

He wasn't real, he was a hallucination. Mary saw him at the first party, and then invented his voice, mannerisms, manners, etc.

"Why didn't he age? What was the 'help me' about? " He didn't age because she couldn't imagine him aging; she imprinted him on her brain looking exactly like that, and couldn't age him. I have no idea what the "help me" thing was all about, but it scared the crap out of me :P

"Was Mary schizophrenic, leading to her thinking he was there?" Basically, yes :P

I really hope this helps, i had to think it through pretty hard!

Yeah I couldn't work this out at the end, I sometimes wonder if the trouble with Poliakoff is he goes along way round, and doesn't quite get to the point, he's made some good stuff, but he can be slow and meandering and maybe meandered a bit too long on this occaison.

I didn't see the other thing with Ruth Wilson though, so maybe that explains it more.

One thing though, where did all his secrets come from?
