9x12, Sheldon smelling numbers

I wonder why that was never delved into more, since he had apparently thought for that long that was normal. Seems something was missed in his tests.

To me, numbers have colors, and the only difference it makes to me is that I won't set the thermostat to 73 degrees because it's an ugly combination of green and orange.

It's called "synesthesia", it's common enough, and it makes no difference to anyone else. The series was right to treat it as unimportant.

I have heard of it, and personally been acquainted with someone who had it. So I know it's real. I just figured it was rare enough to be a point of interest. Come to think of it my acquaintance, while not dumb in the least, wasn't a certified genius either. I didn't realize it was common enough though. Didn't mean to offend if I did. I hope 72 and 74 are pleasant enough for you :) Thanks for sharing, it was interesting

Oh, well, psychologists don't test for synesthesias under normal circumstances, because they don't really affect how a person lives their life. They're common enough, I've met a couple of other people who have them, but honestly, I haven't asked most of the people I know about it, because it's just not important, and most people aren't interested. Honestly, the only time I've ever heard of a synesthesia making a difference to anyone, is that some artists have used them for inspiration.

Perhaps it's mildly interesting to note that I have a numbers-related synesthesia and so does Sheldon COoper... and I'm absolute crap with mathematics and he's a genius. But I'm real.
