it would've been better to find different mates for the main characters VS following the cliche "Friends" they all hook up with each other.
There would have been plenty of women available to these guys (except for Sheldon), if they'd been willing to leave their little nerd bubble and date the kind of normal women who'd appreciate men who were sane, decent, funny, and who had good jobs and promising futures.
But they didn't want to leave their little nerd bubble, instead, they gradually drew their various women into it.
And it was directly because of Penny that they began to emerge from that bubble.
shareI never saw the last season, but before that, they didn't emerge from the Cal Tech bubble, they just drew more people into it. During the last season, did you ever see them socializing with someone who wasn't a nerd or a scientist? Normal resident of Pasadena, maybe?
