Job combating human trafficking...
Where can I get a job actively combating human trafficking on a global level?
shareWhere can I get a job actively combating human trafficking on a global level?
shareHi, I work with a local anti-trafficking organization, so I thought I would give you a response.
There are many organizations that work to actively combat human trafficking on local, national, and international levels. Two of the major organizations I would suggest looking into would be Not for Sale (http://www.notforsalecampaign.org/) or The Polaris Project (http://www.polarisproject.org/). Another place you can look is The CNN Freedom Project (http://thecnnfreedomproject.blogs.cnn.com/) where they have a list of organizations that fight against this issue (direct link to list: http://thecnnfreedomproject.blogs.cnn.com/2011/03/30/charities-country-by-country/)
I hope this helps! Even if you can't find a job, I hope you will consider at least volunteering to help put a stop to this issue. This fight needs all the hands it can get!
id like a job working for them also
My respect to you, rubygirl - that warms my heart, that there are still organized counterforces against these pervertations and abominations.
Working our way OUT of the hellhole, albeit temporarily, sometimes.
Again, thanks for putting up those links, and for what you do.
Thanks for that info. I'm interested as well. You can't learn about this stuff and do nothing about it.
"I'll book you. I'll book you on something. I'll find something in the book to book you on."
there are tons of agency out there but there is no way to combat this problem on a global level. Perhaps if there was a way to make these young women worth more in society their own people wouldn't sell them like this. At the end of he day Raya own uncle sold her knowing what would happen to her so he could get a tv. This kind of thing happened all over the world even in the US. I'm not saying that you should do nothing but don't think you can stop everything single handedly.
shareRaya's uncle obviously thought a TV was worth more than a human being. People like that are sick in the head.
shareThere is no need to discourage them. Ofcourse they wont be able to stop every single person, but even person stopped makes a huge difference.
if UN was any useful instead of harmful it could have helped, there is an organization Heartland Alliance. but you should tell the difference between prostitutes and slaves.
