Yeah...I was pretty confused by the ending of the movie. It was like reading an entire book only to find the the last two or three pages are missing. I guess the director of the movie wanted his audience to insert their own ending.

We don't know that. We only know that Stingray was not dead at the moment Breslin arrived. But he was unconscious and can easily have died subsequently, depending on how exactly he had been attacked.
