How old was Ziyi's character in the film?

How old was Ziyi's character in the film? I ask because I was led to believe she was a 16 year old teenager (or thereabouts)....but she's 30 years old in real life...Gulp!

Well the way they had her dressed like a lolita whore, wearing pigtails and lacy little girl school dresses, stockings. I word that kind of get up when I was like 10 years old. minus the lacy neck though.

She was adopted when she was 8, then 10 years had passed, have th think she was about 18.

At least eighteen. She was adopted at age eight, and molested for ten years, which would have made her eighteen *if* she was molested from day one. We don't know if there was a gap/how much of a gap between when she was adopted and when the abuse started, though, so she might have been up to a few years older. Nor do we know if the ten years included that year, or if they'd all been in the past.

As soon as I saw Ziyi as a teenager, I stopped watching the movie. She's too old to be playing an adolescent now and it shows. If I couldn't buy her as a kid then I doubt I'd buy anything else in the movie.

She was supposed to be 18. Adopted at 8 and molested for 10 years. Plus she's continually refered to as a kid or child throughout the film.

I think it's horrible that she was 30 and still looked like a teenager both physically and in her facial features. We all want to look younger, but like an underdeveloped kid? No thanks.

It's all fun and games until someone gets caught. Then it's larceny.
