How accurate (or inaccurate) is the german dialogue?
Just curious, cause neither Bruno nor Lutz were portrayed by native German-speaking actors.

The German is comprehensible, but you can make out quite an accent (Hammarsten does a better job than Baron Cohen, though). Also, many of the lines are grammatically incorrect and contain fictitious words – like "Spunken" or "Arschenhalle" – that are basically just made up for comedic effect.
Even though I’m not really a big fan of the movie, it’s really a shame that its cinema release was dubbed in German-speaking countries, since the fake German dialogue is probably even funnier when you actually understand it.
But I guess dubbing is never a good thing anyway.

I suspected a few words and sentences here and there must have been made-up for comedic effect, but there was a fair deal of German spoken throughout, so I assumed some of it must have been at least partially correct.
Even though I don't speak German myself (since I don't consider being able to say 5-10 verbs and random vocabulary actually "speaking" a language LOL), I have had a great deal of German friends/acquaintances over the years and I honestly thought Hammarsten sounded like a native speaker when I first watched the film, especially since he looks like he could be of Germanic descent.
Bruno's friend was more convincing in his appearance as being German than his actual speech. I personally thought both of them did a good job though. There's a dialect that Bruno uses that is more noticeable than his friend which in a strange way makes him seem more authentic but it's quite obvious they both aren't fluent or native. For Hollywood it's good enough I guess. He's having fun in a comedy so it's less necessary to be accurate.

Though Cohen did a very good job imitating a german accent during the english dialogue. It was nearly perfect, if you'd consider Brüno as an actual dumb wit who doesn't give a flyin' frak about a foreign language and therefore uses german expressions and ignores pronounciations. I liked the english scenes very much and during those Cohen actually used most of the german words in a right way and even got the pronounciation right.

If you refer to my post you misread my meaning. I recognize imperfection but for the actors they did a good job. Don't expect them to be like you and I if their mother language is not German.

I was wondering the entire movie why they used incorrect german grammar. I mean the bad pronounciation and the insertion of funny words like "Stinker" is understandable but why the wrong grammar? I mean the dialogue must have been written for them by someone who speaks german.
