poor direction of the camera work

"shaky cam" denotes laziness, not well-crafted filmmaking.

and here it is often used quite well... except for the overuse of it in key places, where it removes one from the film -- over and again.

poor cinematics (director/DP coordination) indeed.

"Shake cam denotes laziness"

Wrong. Quite the opposite, in fact. Yes, it gives the camera operator more freedom of movement, but the obvious is also true: it's harder to maneuver handheld camera than it is to maneuver one that's on sticks, especially when a focus puller is involved.

You may not like the effect, and that's fine, but you clearly don't know what you're talking about in terms of the technical aspects of enjoying handheld camera. THE HURT LOCKER is aesthetically impressive. Period.

Laziness? I don't get it..

I'm getting the opinion you don't know it was intended to be like this.. It was a small budget film independently produced and directed by Kathryn Bigelow. It turned into a runaway train that people couldn't get enough of and made history in 2009. This (Indi) film won six Oscars including Best Picture, Best Director for Bigelow and Best Original Screenplay.
Lazy, I disagree..
