It fits in with Ossie's pompous nature. However, John Malkovich is a fluent French speaker and dubs his own dialogue in French, so that may have something to do with it.

It is purposely obnoxious. I'm not sure how much that word is commonly used on French, I'm not fluent, but can think of a lot of synonyms, and you wouldn't even stress the pronounciation that loudly or long if you were actually speaking French.

Just another subtle, yet great technique to add to his performance. These characters are obnoxious, and it is why I love this movie.
