A reality show that is sensationalized AND has some staged events?!?!

No freaking way. How unheard of. All my expectations of this world have been shattered.

In summary, I like this show. I do not worship Bear. I do, however, really enjoy his penchant for getting naked on camera.

Leave Christian alone. He didn't have time for that *beep* He needed to return some video tapes.

reply

Yeah, I don't know why people are freaking out about the fact that some of it is fake. Reality show is an oxymoron.

But maybe those situations we're too risky for his health and he was actually in danger. I don't think it would be good for the network if the star of their show was killed under their watch.

So, maybe, just maybe, they require him to stop if the situation is just that bad. That could go against his wishes, or it could not, we'll never know, and you don't know.

reply

Yes, the dangers of snaring your own rabbit or catching your own trout are well documented.

"Ahh the internet. Where men are men, women are men, and children are cops!"

you picked the most retarded of situations to try and argue with me?

What about getting frostbite and having your limbs amputated, or going blind from the sun? Or falling off a cliff?

What if that stuff was to happen to him? You guys sound like you want him to be physically injured just to understand the realism of the survival situations, and even if that were to happen, you still wouldn't be satisfied.

reply

Completely agree SIRTRUMP43.

I like this show. I won't stop liking this show. I will keep watching this show. It's pure entertainment for me. It's awesome to come here and see the rating is so high despite all of the haters.

I don't really care what anyone thinks. It's just TV and we all have opinions.

Now a show that should be trolled is "One Way Out."

Couldn't agree more!!

You must not have seen the original episodes..

In those season #1 episodes, Bear would say at the beginning of each show that his camera crew was only there for filming, and would not give asistance unless it was a life or death situation.
Since the truth came out, those shows have been edited.

reply

Exactly.

It wasn't until AFTER he was caught that he 'fessed up. He is a liar. Plain and simple.

Who cares, it's entertaining and that's all that I require from a tv show. I count on learning survival skills from Bear about as much as I count on learning the truth about political candidates from any news show. In other words, there are better sources of information about both topics than your tv set. However, as an entertainer, Bear is top notch. I like seeing the places he goes to and some of the situations he gets himself out of. I enjoy watching him work his way through a mangrove swamp or down a waterfall, all from the comfort of my recliner with the beer and chips handy. Were people this worked up, or have this same sense of betrayal when mom and dad finally told them that Santa Claus wasn't real?

Dude, that's not the point. The point is that the show Presented itself as IF IT WAS 100% Real... Heck even Discovery used the following Tagline to promote the show: Watch. Learn. Survive... Once again promoting the show as if it was the real deal... Then the reports about Bear=Fake began showing up. The Show had to go for a process of re-editing (adding new Voiceovers, cutting stuff, etc.) Still with all this proof regarding the BS from MvW people still claim that Bear is the real deal and he's 100% biggest badass in the universe.

He is an entertaining host, but not the biggest badass in the universe. That's what most of the Bear lovers don't get.

(I predict a 50% chance of a reply by a certain stalker whose post will be mostly: complaining about Les Stroud using Guns, ATVs, being rescued, etc.)

I can't wait for Michael Bay to direct Care Bears. Using real bears so it can be more realistic.

Well, I didn't claim that he's the worlds biggest badass, just a good entertainer. As far as Les, I enjoy his show as well. I think he's more realistic as far as survival tips go and takes thing at something approaching my speed......slow and steady. I understand what you're saying about the advertizing but my point still stands....it's tv, enjoy it for what it is but don't take it too seriously.

Don't worry I know that You aren't the one claiming that Bear is the biggest badass in the world. I was just pointing out why people get their knickers in a bunch regarding Bear and the show... The stuff beneath the spoilers tag is just a reference to an annoying poster that's obsessed with people who say "bad stuff" about Bear...

Both have additional crews. That part is true. The big difference lies in the crew's location and amount of interaction with the hosts. We all know that Bear's crew is mostly on-site and they interact with Bear. (Bear's admitted that he's stolen Tea from the Crew.) With the crew on-site Bear can afford to do some of his stunts (diving into a frozen lake, etc.) Les Stroud has a crew nearby for emergencies, but they're not On-Site, thus Les Stroud is not doing stunts.

About Bear saving your life 3 times, can you elaborate on that? How you were in danger and what advice of his saved your life?

I knew from season 1 episode 1 that this show wasn't 100% authentic or hardcore when it was clear he had a life preserver vest on under his shirt as he was floating down the rapids. Last time I checked life preserver vests don't grow on trees. Still it ain't easy out there and he makes the show entertaining.
