Climbing the bridge and the train ending

Did you guys see this? Holy *beep* First he scales a bridge and when he gets to the top, only then does he realize how severe the overhand is so he takes a chain he's been lugging around, tosses it up over the ledge and after 3 tries, it sticks and he climbs up it, dangling 200 feet above the ground with no safety line on a chain that he (supposedly) has no idea what it is fastened to. I REALLY have to wonder what went on behind the scenes on that one. Notice they never showed a wide angle of the climb.

But if that wasn't enough, he and his team then head through a narrow railroad tunnel and only when they get about halfway through it do they realize, "Oh *beep* a train is coming." They take off running the way they came and you see the train bearing down on them and Bear emerges from the tunnel and jumps out of the way of the speeding train literally a split second before it would have flattened him...

Again, I really have to wonder how much of this is *beep* That was nuts. I can't believe nobody is talking about this.

Yeah I was wondering about the train thing too. That was pretty crazy. I have to wonder if they knew the train was coming. But still, the fact that they all missed getting hit by the train is dangerous, even if they did know it was coming.

I also wonder if someone was on the bridge and helped to make sure the chain was secure. But when you think about it, the chain was really rusty and still could have broken.

I agree, it was nuts.

This was the most bizarre episode of Man VS Wild. It reminded more of an episode of Jackass mixed with staged Hollywood stunt-work. Everything Bear did in this episode was completely un-necessary and deadly dangerous. This is no longer a show that tells an audience how to survive in the wild but how to do stupid nonsense to get yourself killed.

Everything in this episode was staged and scripted: the cabin, the boat, the chain, the metal wire, etc.. The show is becoming a recreational drama series than anything else.

Also the dangerous situations he found himself in were faked... The crossing of the small canyon using a wire, using a kite to sail his boat, using a chain to get on top of the bridge and of course the train fiasco. All of these were video editing tricks, he did not really do any of these (at least in the way it is presented in the show). All of these are impossible to do in the situation bear found himself in, and were faked by his production crew.

Shame on you, Bear.

You're a moron.

best episode ever! i was freaking out watching this, staged, partially staged or real, who cares, it's a kick ass show!

it's all real btw.

Regarding the train scene. Bear is running like crazy from the upcoming train, and tells his crew to run for their lives. Yet the camera is still on them. The cameraman seems to run expremelly fast backwords and still keep a nice frame on Bear. There are even couple of different shots of Bear running. Sorry, but this was fake.

I HAVE SPOKEN!!!!!!

I agree. Horribly fake. If anyone of you or even I were there, and the train came, all the audience would get is
A.) The feet of the camera operator running
or
B.) a shot of the ground as the camera operator drops his camera and runs.

Watch Survivorman instead. There is a survival programme. Not as entertaining but there's more reality in that show.

Exactly what capespi is saying, if this show didn't have all that crazy stuff (like in the recent episode) I would not watch it.

Of course Man Vs Wild is fake. It's a great show and it even states the dangerous situations are staged. It's supposed to be educational. What you people are debating is equivalent to a child's math problem "if you have 6 apples and you give Billy 4 apples, how many apples do you know how" and you're response would be "I'm not giving anyone of my damn apples". Let it go. It's stages situations (problems) and what to do in said situation. You people are morons. It's an entertaining show with great information.
The end.

Goddamn, I didn't realise how many stupid people there are in the world. What does Bear have to do to make you people stop whining, get killed in an episode? Of course he has a safety crew around him, he has a family and he's obviously not stupid enough to jump in icy water and do all the crazy stuff he does without someone looking out for him. You must be braindead to not realise the situations are staged, and by the way, by staged I mean they find a cliff or something, discuss how to go about it and then do it. It's not like it's on the green screen or something. It's still very dangerous and if you want to tell me he's not a hard man then try eating some of the things he has.

Wait... the answer to How many apples do you know how is I'm not giving anyone of my damn apples!? I've been doing that wrong FOREVER!!!
