The way he always talks about his faith and his family... it makes me almost want to cry when he can't catch a fish or calls down a gorge, or gets cold, or something!! He's so likable!!
But, answer me this: how can you fake climbing through the desert, digging an ice cave or biting the head off a snake? Yes, the camera man probably cheats, but Bear is the real deal.

The problem is that the people who call him a fake are semi-literate and are not expressing themselves accurately. They are not saying that he is doing everything in front of a green screen. The question is, is he actually demonstrating how to survive or is he just putting on a show for entertainment purposes.
I do enjoy the show and watch regularly. He does offer some useful tips for when you are out in the wild. But by and large, I find the show to be entertainment. What he does is fine... for him. But the average person should not try to emulate him if they were to find themselves in a survival situation.
Bear sleeps with the crew obviously, but it doesn't matter, because he does some amazing things in the show. Every idiot who spends his days criticizing the show should try to do the same thing. No, seriously, try it. Record it and upload do Youtube, I'm sure we'll get a good laugh out of it.

If hes so fake, how come the celebrities or any of the other people who go on these adventures with him struggle so much, ill be honest i dont think id have the guts to cross a frozen river/lake in the artical circle naked, i really dont, when i first seen that episode i thought naked?? thats dull, but its actuall common sense, keep the clothes dry and you will warm up quickly, keep wet clothes on, with a wind chill?? youd be dead in minutes!!!
