I love football, so I shoulda liked this flick right?

Ha ha. Right.

I can't remember the last time I've seen a film so chock full of such bland and phoned-in acting. And the script could be the worst I have ever had the misfortune of sitting through. Dialogue and scenes that just flat out make you cringe.

The filmmakers who put this steaming pile of refuse together came off as straight amateurs who have never made a movie before. I'm amazed ANY actor of note agreed to appear in it and I'm stunned any studio agreed to make it.

It is straight cheese all the way through, with wooden acting and torturous dialogue. Further, the cast was an ensemble of some of the most corny and laughably bad thespians ever assembled for one film.

This movie violated just about every single rule of storytelling. There is no one to root for. There is no one and nothing for the audience to care about. And there are zero plot points that audiences couldn't see coming ten miles off. I doubt there is even a single viewer who was surprised by anything that happened in this movie.

I saw this after hearing all the initial buzz, and expected to like it. Imagine how shocked and awed I was to see that THIS is what everyone was talking about. I seriously left the film wondering if I had really seen the Blind Side, or somehow wandered into the wrong theater.

And don't even get started on the Oscar nominations. This pile of trash was nominated (and won one) for two of the most prolific Oscars there are. The fact that this abomination resides in the same club as films like The French Connection, The Deer Hunter, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Godfather, The Sting, All the President's Men, Goodfellas, A Few Good Men, The Shawshank Redemption, and Inception as Best Picture nominees should nauseate every true fan of cinema.

That's your list? Two films on that list made me feel the same way.

No one to root for and no one to care about? Well, that just undercut any point being made in one fell swoop.

I disliked this film as well, mostly for the script. The performances were fine, but the script after a while made me steaming mad.

I agree...and Sandra Bullock's performance in this movie was horrible. i It's obvious she made this movie hoping that she would win an Oscar. She also had so much plastic surgery she could barely crack a smile. The story and writing was horrific! I had the misfortune of watching this movie at a doctors office. It sucks!

Sorry you did not care for it, and thought it was overall poo. You are entitled to your opinion. However - are you basing your poo-factor on the actual facts at stake... the script and overall process being loosely based, instead of accurate?

Personally I am vaguely familiar with the actual story and its events. And loved the film. And Bullock is a brilliant Oscar-winning actress, as well as Kathy Bates. To call either of them Bland is a downright insult. And several other actors gave noted performances as well, such as IronE Singleton - who Walking Dead fans remember as T-Dogg.

And this film is not the only of its kind: disadvantaged kid (any race) taken in by a kindly family, raised as their own, and becomes something successful in life.

I haven't seen this movie in 5-years but I don't really care for it. Why? Well, for one the movie is 129 minutes. I feel like the ideal time for most movies is 1.5 hours. But, I feel like this movie just takes 2 hours of showing normal family life, and having a homeless black guy be adopted by a rich family. The main focus was on Sandra Bullock's character Leigh, and Michael Oher's character. S.J. seemed like an annoying kid who looked up to Mike, and Collins seemed like a minor character who didn't care at all that Oher moves in with them, as if she wouldn't care even if he didn't. In other words, she has no say.

Watching this movie, I feel like it's just like watching a family video as if the whole incident was filmed and you'll spend a long two hours just seeing that family life. Yeah, that's my opinion. A lot of you will disagree. In one sentence, it's a good story but it's not a good popcorn movie.
