Hey everyone. I just got done watching this Anime (I loved it) but I had a question about Misa. When she gave up ownership of the notebook the second time does it mean her lifespan returns and isn't halved? Or does she still only have half her life? And did she kill herself at the end?
And sorry for my English. It isn't my first language.
Both times she got the Shinigami eyes her life was halfed - which could not be reversed. At the end I think it was implied that she killed herself since she knew her lifespan was lowered significantly and she had nothing to live for since Light was gone.
She actually had quite a long lifespan. When a Shinigami intentionally lengthens a life what that Sinigami had left gets added to the life it lengthens.
So whatever Gelus had, 1/2 went to Rem, 1/4 to Ryuk wneh she made the deal again, she had the 1/4 left.
Then Rem lengthened her life, Rem had recently killed L, Watari and Ginzo Kaneboshi. She also made the eye deal with Higuchi.
So when Rem lengthened Misa's life, Misa got L's, Watari's, Ginzo's, half of higuchi's, the half os Gelus' she originally traded and anyone else Rem had killed added to her own life.
totally forgot about her getting Rem's lifespan when i posted. Watched the series about a year ago haha but you're right never thought of it like that.
So that really opens up more possibilities about what happened to Misa at the end. Since she had no memory of the death note or Rem, she must not have known anything about the changes to her lifespan at the end of the show (right?)
That makes it a lot more unlikely to me that she would kill herself then.. I really think Misa's ending was the worst loose end left by the show. Haven't finished the manga yet but maybe that gives more of an explanation
Im still pretty sure she killed herself. I mean, you see her at the end at the egde of a tall building, and the last thing we see is her closing her eyes, probably readying herself for suicide. I think theres like almost no chance that she didnt commit suicide
