Lewis/Morse connections?

If so, should this series be watched first?

Lewis is set after Inspector Morse series, so you should watch Morse first.

Many thanks.

inspector Morse was made first, but each episode of both series is a self contained story, so it doesn't really matter which you watch first.

I was hoping someone would say that.
Thank you!

Louise Culmer is correct in a limited sense.

If you intend to watch "Morse" or "Lewis" purely as a murder mystery series, simply to find out "who dunnit," then each episode of each series can stand alone as a one-off complete story and it really doesn't matter in what order you watch the programmes or which series you watch first.

BUT, if you are interested in learning the details of each of the main characters back stories and of understanding their evolving relationships with each other, then it becomes almost essential to watch them in the order in which they were first broadcast. This means starting with "Morse" first and then going on to "Lewis." When watching "Lewis," it would be then very important to start with the pilot episode, follow this up with series one and culminate with the final series, series nine.

Hope this helps.

Very much so as you describe our way of watching uncannily well!

And where does endeavor fit in?? It's new, so.....

it's about the young Morse in the 1960s. I find the young Morse a bit bland compared to the mature Morse, he isn't such an interesting character. but it's a mildly diverting series.

reply

But Lewis episodes often mention Morse so it's kind of nice on those occasions to know what they're talking about.
