Might be a dumb question ...
and no doubt someone will tell me if it is.
Why was the show called Eastbound and Down?

Why was the show called Eastbound and Down?
See trivia, named after the song by Jared Reed.
shareJerry Reed sorry (couldn't edit in app)
shareThat same song is the theme to Smokey and the Bandit which co-starred Jerry Reed.
shareI still wonder why the title was supposed to fit to the show. Not even the song is played once.
shareThey said in the commentary they did not have a name for the show when first writing it, only had lame names HBO and others thought were bad so they temporarily called it "East Bound and Down" after Smokey and The Bandit while still working on it and they ended up sticking with the name. I am kind of surprised they never made a Bandit reference in the show or played the Jerry Reed song at any time.
shareHe ended his career in Seattle and ended up in the Carolinas. So he literally went eastbound and down.
