I Thoroughly Enjoyed This Film.

I can see where some of the criticism is coming from but in no way does it deserve even a third of the hate and vile it's been spouted in reviews. I feel as if I saw a different film from everybody else it's 80's feel was flawless and there was great acting all around. I think people just jamp on the hate bandwagon with this film and wouldn't give it a chance before it had even started. For the reviewers who attacked the director accusing him of being a terrible director just watch Two Hands(One of Heath's greatest roles) or Buffalo Soldiers, two favorite films of mine that I didn't know had the same director till I clicked on this page.

I loved this film enough to go out and buy it on Bluray and for people like me who enjoyed it the menu screen has Flock of Seagull's I Ran playing over it in it's full excellent eightie's entirety.

Beautiful cinematography, great acting, excellent soundtrack and a story that should have been handled better. If you haven't seen it yet forget the nay sayers and give it a chance.

I can agree on some of your points. The 80's feel was authentic, the performances were solid, and the soundtrack was very good. However, I just felt the film was a missed opportunity in filmmaking. The trailer made it look like something special, but the film was merely above average in most aspects. I felt some of the cast and their talent was wasted on a lackluster script which seemed to just show scene after scene of...stuff. The film felt empty and the story got weaker as the film progressed.

I mean, I didn't find the film dull or boring, but I did find that it was lacking a better story for the actors and characters involved. Some of the drama was very well-done though, so props to the actors for making some weak material come across as good. The Informers just could have been so much more than what it was. Not surprised the rating dropped from the 7's to the low 5's.

I loved this movie and bought it. I lived in LA in the 80's and it was somewhat like that. Sex and drugs were pretty common and every where. To me I call this movie the death of LA. One day I woke up and it was all gone. Just like in the ending of the movie where she is dying on the beach wanting the sun or the good times to come back.
