Tim and Jack--the good guys
I read the comments about Tim and Jack. To me, they were the only characters in the movie (I haven't read the book) that had the strength to stand up for what they felt was right. Probably because they were the only ones who had any idea about their personal morality. Tim believed his father's womanizing was wrong, and he stood up to him about it. Jack believed that what his uncle did was wrong, and he stood up to him. The other characters mostly just went along with whatever was happening around them. Graham has potential, if he doesn't die of AIDS. He at least asked how he is supposed to know what is right and wrong if no one tells him. He was beginning to question what was going on around him. Maybe if he finds some people who care about themselves and others he will begin to find some answers. He had the chance to do so with Jack in the lobby, but all he did was bum a light and then throw the butt on the lobby floor--for Jack to pick up. That was so revealing of his character.
