Small nitpick (spoiler)

Just watched this for the first time today and really dug it, but I just have one complaint: Does anyone else feel like it would have made more sense for the partying girls to be witches instead of werewolves? I mean, they lure men into their lair to kill them, they dance naked around campfires, it would have made perfect sense for them to be witches. I guess the werewolves are a nice bait & switch, and witches would have been more predictable, but what these girls did just didn't seem very werewolfy.

In the film's universe, one could argue that the myth of witches you cite -- they lure men into their lair to kill them, they dance naked around campfires -- could stem from the reality of werewolve covens.

I couldn't believe when I read his filmography that he played a toilet (no joke) in According to Jim

Exactly, it's not an either/or situation. Werewolfery was linked with witchcraft and sorcery in the folklore of the French, Germanic, and Baltic regions of Europe from at least the 1300s into the 1700s. The werewolves/witches seen in the movie are drawing upon that folklore.
