Magic realism or magical realism

Magic realism (or magical realism) is a literary genre in which magical elements appear in an otherwise realistic setting. Has anyone read the story TRUE NORTH by Sara Maitland? Sara Maitland I think is known for taking fairtales and rewriting them with a twist! If so can anyone give us some info?????????? I don't mind spoiler...I would like to know the story....I guess I could go by the book..

Chances are very good that you'll find Sara Maitland's book of short stories at your library, so you won't have to go buy it. I'll be checking that out myself. But dang it, I'm going to be busy the next two days! Waaaaah!

Have you checked out Michelle Yeoh's site regarding updates on the filming of 'True North'. Looks like Sean did not care for filming way up north. It was like being on "Big Brother".
This film should be very interesting to say the least!

'While Kaiser, an assistant of Michelle's, described how wonderful their Arctic cruising was and how fun and friendly the people around him were, British actor Sean Bean might not have enjoyed the "trip" that much apparently. Recently he told London's "TheBuzz" that he got stir crazy. "It was very strange living there for weeks on end, very intense," Bean said. "We all lived on this boat - but it was actually a bit like being on 'Big Brother'."

What I find amusing is that Sean Bean possibly watches Big Brother.
I hear there is a twist ending, so I'm not sure that I would want to read the book before I see the film. I might want to get the full effect from the film. Does anyone know if they intend to show this film in many cities? I hate it when a film I really want to see is only playing in selected cities far, far away.
