Must see the 1972 version first!

If you haven't seen either version of Sleuth and are contemplating watching this one (2007) first, I urge you to reconsider. The 1972 version is far superior - unless you are one of those younger people who can't stand movies from an earlier era. If you are not, seeing the later version first would spoil it for you. Both movies contain the same twist, which is delightfully shocking to the unknowing viewer in the first version; not so much in the second.

I'd urge you to see the original version and skip this one. I can't imagine what any of them were thinking remaking that classic with this hot mess. Well, except for Brannaugh who is so full of himself I'm sure he thought he was upping the original with a masterpiece.

Agreed. The first Sleuth is a masterwork, this version is strange and nowhere near as enjoyable to watch.
