I was just curious if anyone knew if this movie has any connection from the last movie (Species 3)? and can anyone really say why Sunny Mabrey wasn't in this movie or if she is but only shows up for a brief few scenes to connect it from the 3rd movie? what bout Natasha, does she make any kind of appearences at all in this movie?
This movie is basically completely seperate from any of the first three. The only thing they have in common is the alien DNA and slamming hotties. Sunny isn't in it at all because she had "other movie projects". And Natasha got out of this series as quickly as she could in the first five minutes of #3.
was just curious, had a feeling that Natasha might not show up but was just curious if they used shots of her from any of the first 3 and was wondering if Sunny had any small parts due to the way the 3rd one left off. But if neither of them are going to show up and if they dont tie the 4th into the first 3 then the movie is going to suck. at least with the 3 it was cheezy but at least it stuck the first 2 to a marginal degree. because for me if your going to do a sequel of any kind have at least sometimes to the previous movies to some degree to at least set up a base line for the current movie.
just look at Highlander: The Source, that movie just came out and I saw it on Sci Fi channel. The movie totally bombed in my opionion but at least H:T.S. had some connections to the previous movies to some degrree (ie mainly charcters and a few explanations bout the immortals) but from what I heard Species 4 doesnt have that, what a rip since I own the first 3.
The movie isn't so much a sequel as it is a continuation. The whole story arch of Sil, then Eve's quest to have offspring, followed by Sara finding her mate, kinda left that finished. They sorta needed to go away from that and try a different idea and that's what this movie is. It relies a little more on the story and acting of Helena than boobies and sex. This is more of a moral tale than a cheap skin flick.
Another good thing about this is it had an end. There was no mutant rat or bulging preggo stomach about to burst. It leaves no room for "well, what if.." like the other three did.
thats a total rip I think, the whole point of most sequels is to continue the story, its like reading a book. for me I feel that a sequel should either propel the story futher or wrap the franchise. look at the star trek/star wars movies, each are their own movies but they propel the story further. if they started from scratch then I feel its a rip because its some a$$ in a corperate office saying lets throw out the 1st 3 and start new, but lets keep the basics like alien dna. what a bunch of bull. there should of been a bit more tie in to the first 3 just for the fact that it can give it more of a back story. and I feel its a shame because the first 2 were so good and the 3rd was moderately ok. and to make a new one without tying it to the first 3 I feel will make this movie wobblie at best and probably fall flat.
It was better that they started with a clean slate because there was already so much inconsistency between the first three. The fresh start makes this movie enjoyable because they didn't bring Sunny "the scowling face" back. I agree the idea can make it wobblie but this movie is carried pretty well by Helena. I applaud them for taking a franchise that realied so heavily on one actress and one storyline and going ahead with neither of those. Actually makes the movie worth watching.
