Only Franchise that got better straight to video

Species one and two were pretty bad. 3 suddenly got really interesting. Now 4 is like an awesome movie... weird.

Well I thought that 3 was pretty horrible, but 4 was surprisingly good thou!

Lightman, I must have misread that. You thought the first one was bad and the third one was good?

IMO, the first one was pretty decent, the second one was subpar to say the least, the third one was a dropped ball of Alien: Ressurection proportions and the new one actually bounces back to the level of the first one.

I'll agree that three and four strike me as better than the old ones, althoug one has special status as the original. The guy who's the writer now (forgot his name...) demonstrates in an amazing way how you can take the characters from a pretty doomed franchise and make them cool by putting them in a different context.

While the franchises are no way near comparable in greatness, it's somewhat like how Cameron lifted the aliens out of their slasher/horror cradle and put them in a Starship Troopers style storyline. Which according to most was an improvement.

To me the greatest move of the third Species was to have multiple adult aliens that interact with eachother and have their own little secret community ^^
