Mild spoilers for script

Hope the link works, never tried this before. If it doesnt, my apologies. Just to let you know that the Daily Telegraph online today (telegraph.co.uk) has an interview with Andrew Davies about the new NA script. Sexed up script from Mr D? How unusual LOL!

Your link doesn't work but I searched the site and found the article. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2006/08/28/narcher28.xml Hopefully this link works. I'm a little upset, but not really surprised at this, since it's Andrew Davies and that's the kind of thing he does... sigh...... but I guess it is good news for people who were upset that there was nothing about a certain character in the cast lists, right? I don't wanna give it away, though. Or maybe it would be better for people to read this now so they don't want to kill something when they see it.

I think this bothers me more than Darcy in the pond or the backstory he is bringing to the front with the Eliza/Willoughby thing in the new S&S. Must take deep breaths....

Mars, no idea why my attempt to link failed, but yours is working fine. AD clearly had a one track mind! I was wondering why a certain name hadn't shown up in the cast lists yet. I suppose they just haven't found him yet.

I'm not too thrilled (or surprised) either. When I watch British adaptations with my husband now, he asks me if they were written by that guy whose obsessed with sex (meaning Davies). He's heard me rant about my issues with P&P 95 enough.

Marspeach,
Where did you read the info on the Eliza/Willoughby backstory for S&S? I've read up on the upcoming adaptations but this is the first I've heard of this. My curiosity is peaked! Can you include a link to the article or news story?

Any news on casting for the upcoming JA adaptations? Other than NA2, the only other thing I know of is the casting of Billie Piper as Fanny Price for Mansfield Park.

Thanks for the link!

I think I had better stay away from Andrew Davies interviews. They always raise my blood pressure :-(.

Good grief! Andrew Davies is such a sexaholic. Eeew.

I'm not too worried about this. It may just be a quick scene (flashback type piece) similar to what we saw in P&P (1995 version) with Wickham seducing this young girl and Darcy walking in on them.

What concerns me most is that these new adaptations are only supposed to be approx. 2 hours long. This just doesn't seem to be enough time to do justice to these stories. The earlier tv version of NA was about 2 hours and that did a good enough job including the major plot points and characters. I really hope they do justice to the book this time (and cut out all those cheesy 'gothic fantasy' sequences and music that NA1 had).

I am curious about the new scene where one of Catherine's admirers see her taking a bath. Would it be Henry (while she is visiting in Northanger) or John Thorpe (while he is visiting the Allen's house in Bath)?
