What happened to Isabella at the end? I know she had consentual sex with Henrys brother and he turned her out but I cant remember what was the outcome
(Just to let you know, Isabella doesn't have sex with Frederick TIlney in the novel.) :-)
In the adaptation, Isabella writes a letter to Catherine telling her not to believe any rumours she might hear about her. Basically, Isabella wants Catherine's help to "straighten things out" with James. Once she realizes she can't get Tilney, she decides she needs to try and salvage her engagement to james.

Just another example of Davies proclivity to "sex things up." When I was watching it and that scene came on I thought to myself I really missed something when I read this novel. It has been awhile and I am going to give Austen's lesser known works another go.
