I don't remember the exact context but at the start of the movie they referred to Catherine as 15 years old but at the end the voice-over said something about a match between an 18 year old and a 26 year old. So I'm a bit confused. Does anybody know?
shareHer entire childhood unfolds during that initial scene - jumping forward by several years at a time. We see her being Christened. We see her as a toddler accompanying the family to church. A presumably 15-year-old Catherine is shown playing baseball with her brothers and sisters in the garden, and as the scene continues we finally get to an 18-year-old Catherine reading (and vividly imagining) one of her Gothic novels.
shareShe's 18 when she goes to Bath. The voiceover is directly from the novel, giving the account of how unlikely Catherine seemed to do anything special when she was a child. They mush things together a little bit in the film, so I was also confused until I read the novel after seeing the adaptation.
shareI've re-watched NA since posting the original question and you are both correct. The voice over says something like "by the age of 15" she started to develop or whatever. When they say 15 they're showing Felicity Jones as Catherine so that's probably what messed me up. Thanks.
