But why.. (Sadie and her bf)

At the end of it all I'm still wondering why it seems that Sadie had some kinda connection to Mari through this whole thing. She did cry in the rain scene after seeing her shot, she looked indifferent to how long her bf took raping Mari and then telling his son he missed out like it must had been really good. Also, that moment when Mari had made it to the house and they quickly show an expression from Sadie out in the guesthouse as Mari kinda wakes up after her dads little surgery.

I wonder why was her bf arrested in the first place in the opening scene (unless somehow I missed that). Just made me curious as to what type of crime he had been caught committing that time to establish what kind of criminals they usually were. Were they always killing and raing or were they mostly some type of folks that took money from folks or robbed banks and just started panicking once he got arrested in the first scene and needed to get him outta there. Either way, he seemed mostly unbothered with the cops like he just knew his gf and the other guy would get him outta there.

Sadie just seemed from the first scene and throught the movie to be only trying to play the bad girl role just to please her bf cus maybe she is just one of many females attracted to the "bad boy". Did I do good? is one of the first things I recall her saying in the film. And throughout I kept getting the idea she hated other people getting hurt because of what they did but she just let it be if it meant being able to show her bf she can be a badass.

So, my main thing again is why did he get arrested, were they normally murderers or just thieves travelling from place to place. I'm sure Justin knew at least people were being killed or severely harmed at some point since they gave him bloody money and told him not to bring anyone back to their motel. I also get Justin clearly doesn't pick up newspapers.

And finally, what was Sadies deal with seemingly having a connection to Mari's pain? Was she somehow recruited as a gf in the same way she felt Mari could have been a good use? Misery loves company much?

She had the hots for Mari and was pawing at her in the backseat. I don't know what her deal was, she seemed a little nuts, or something. She probably was a victim turned accomplice. Could might've even been a relative like the uncle's daughter. The dad was probably a sex offender. Certainly none of the group were very tough despite all their talk.

In the original you hear on the radio that a couple rapits/murders escaped from jail. They even mentioned Sadie being tough like a man, so I guess their opening scene was to show how they escaped. Sadie was just a lunatic, that had an attraction to girls as well as men. She was probably raped and beaten many times from her bf, so she probably felt Mari's pain, along with jelousy. So she is just all around fu#×ed up.
