Would they actually get revenge when Mari needs hospitalization?

Basically the parents couldn't get the boat started, so they figure, well in the mean time, let's just get revenge on them. But by doing so, this puts Mari in further danger, since she is not hostage material, which the gang can use to desperately bargain for, in order to survive being killed.

So it seems that killing her off in the original makes the revenge more logical, than here, since her remaining alive, makes her a target hostage if they decide to take revenge. Unless I am wrong?

You're not wrong.

you were right with your first direction of addressing the boat...

it was raining and they had no means of transportation of quickly transporting to another neighbors house for transport or phone

to carry a wounded body 6 miles without any tool or carriage would be insanely unrealistic, not to mention generally speaking you don't want to move a severely injured body as the skin can tear again and disrupt the blood flow

their first concern wasn't revenge, it was getting the boat going and finding the keys. They thought the boat keys were probably in the guest house after failing to find them in the main house

again the objective IS to get the daughter to safety but the boat is the only way to realistically do that within a quick period of time.

Keys + revenge just happened to be both in the other house. (Although ironically the boat keys ended up being in a cup in the main house)

The real key here is that they emphasized it was 6 miles distance on land through the storm. That would take hours in those circumstances and time was of essence

she fell through a hole, and was never seen again
