Some observations/queries regarding the movie
I really liked the movie and am sort of suprised by its relatively low rating. I tend to be critical of such films (mostly due to the gross-out factors), but the plot was engaging and kept me occupied and most of the characters were not one-dimensional (as well as quite convincing in their roles).
Some comments/questions:
1) It's funny and distracting at the same time, but Tony 'Teague' Garrison (Nick Zano) and Cooper Montague (Zach Cregger) looked rather similar to each other, so at times it was rather difficult for me to figure out who was feeling jealous, who was the actual leader of the frat students, etc. They also reminded me a bit of Steve Stifler (in terms of physical appearance, mannerisms, etc.)
2) I am guessing that in real life such extreme forms of hazing would not have been tolerated by the authorities (and the three high schoolers would have been arrested as well due to their actions at the end of the film, which were not exactly moral)?
3) I felt a bit sorry for the fraternity students, as one of them lost a girlfriend and they all got in a lot of trouble (the frat dudes were rather cocky and willing to humiliate others, but at the same time they opened many new horizons for the three high school students).
4) Was it supposed to be a happy ending? Do you think that there is any chance that Morris was awarded the scholarship in question (despite all his gaffes)? Also, I wonder what happened to the fraternity students? Were they expelled from the university/forced to perform community service?
5) Why was Gina so willing to reconcile with Kevin? Yes, she assumed that he had become a more interesting and gregarious person (from her standpoint), but at the same time she must have been aware that he had been more than friendly with another girl and the videos were sent out to her (by Kevin) with the intention to make her feel bad about herself.
6) How similar were the events portrayed in the movie to your own college experiences? I am still in college, but haven't had any issues with hazing/bullying and the parties have never been as wild (but I am still having a good time :). Also, I don't think that in real life anyone would bat an eyelid if high school students were detected at a college party (unless it was an event organized by a secret society/exclusively for fraternity members).
