Why do vampires on this show consider werewolves such a threat?

They only see them as a threat when they are taking V and become so strong they can take on vampires. When they aren't taking V, vampires simply consider them a lesser and more vulgar species of supernatural.

They're more feral and unpredictable. They can also walk during the day; night vengeance can be carried out during the day against a vampire..

Eh, I agree, werewolves never really seemed like much of a threat to a vampire.

I never thought of the werewolves as a threat. The series treats werewolves as people who can transform themselves into wolves, not super half person-half wolf creatures. That was why vampire Bill tore a pack of them apart!

So it’s like this... cats are usually faster and more agile than dogs. They can climb trees and do all that weird cat stuff. However, there are still instances where dogs kill cats, especially when running in packs. Vampires, like cats, are loners therefore somewhat vulnerable. Plus dogs are just cooler than cats AND vampires so there’s that.

In the White Wolf role playing games the vampires like places with lots of people (for feeding), the werewolves like wide open spaces with not that many people (to stay in touch with nature). It is the classic Lebensraum argument.

So nobody here ever watched the Underworld saga, nor the Van Helsing movie?

Crap like the True Blood and Twilight novels are fawningly pro-vampire. They’re written by girls who LOVE being, you know, penetrated even if it’s against their will. It’s sooooo sexy, and they’re not sluts because the vamp OVERPOWERS them.

A lycanthrope will rip a vamp in half and shit down his neck. Then there’s that hunting in packs, as a team thing, a previous poster has mentioned. Although, to be fair, there are examples of FEMALE vamps working as a team: in the original Embrace of the Vampire (haven’t seen the remake), Van Helsing and “Bram Stocker’s” Dracula (in quotes because it is a travesty of the novel) female vamps teamed up to take down prey.
