Can someone explain Bill's logic......

Okay I genuinely do not understand Bill's logic as to why he had to die.

Let's be clear, I hated the character and was happy to see him explode into that pile of gore but I do not understand why.

Sookie hasn't moved on at all regardless of what the ending showed.

She is still Fae, therefore still vampire bait.
She is still surrounded by vampires including Willah and Arlenes new beau.
Vampires are still out there, werewolves, werepanthers (Facepalm) etc etc
I believe Eric does love Sookie so he'd unlikely be truly out of the picture

Ultimately I do not understand why he felt he had to die at all or why I he thought his passing would change anything.
