Season 1 serial killer question

Im rewatching series 1 just now, now obviously ive seen it before so i know that the killer is Rene, however im watching it and i cant figure out how he knew the girls were "fangbangers" - Jason only found out Maud had sex with a vampire the night he thought he killed her and he was arrested the next day, he was super quiet about it and therefore we can assume he didnt tell his friends, so how would rene know.

The night he found out about Dawn having sex with a vampire, he was tied up to the bed and stayed at her house all day before she was killed after their fight that night so how would Rene have known about her.

Im going to assume he killed Amy because Jason told him how he met her (Fangtasia) and he assumed she was a vampire or he knew they both took V together (but then why wouldnt he kill Jason too if that was the reason?)

And we all know why he killed his sister and tried to kill sookie (I still dont think Im over Adele's death)

Did I miss something or is it a plot hole

Simple...Rene wasn't the real killer.

There are many other clues that point to a different killer. Maybe you can spot them. Some are revealed in subsequent seasons.

the show painted a pretty obvious picture that he was the killer such as the flashbacks, his behaviour and the fact he tried to kill sookie - so who do you think was the killer?

Do you remember the limo driver hired by FOTS who tried to kidnap Sookie from the airport in Dallas in season 2? Bill glamoured him to get the truth out of him, then he glamoured him to implant a false memory: "the plane arrived but we weren't on it."

That takes care of the flashbacks. Now go back and see if you can give Rene an alibi for each of the murders. Hint: you can.

oh now thats very interesting. - however, surely if that was the plot they were going with, they would have concluded it before the series ended.

But you have a very interesting point...i think ill think on it for a while

Don't bother. If the writers intended for someone else to be the murderer, they would've showed it 

You'd think but don't forget the whole thing was derailed when Ball was pushed out of the showrunner position at the end of season 5. I think he fully intended to wrap it up in season six but the ratings were too good and HBO was opposed to ending it so soon. (Hence rumors of shouting matches between him and the suits)
There were also rumors that a certain actor was opposed to being revealed as the Big Bad villain ( and let's just say he wielded some clout on that set). In any case, Ball's immediate successor seemed to be following Ball's plans when he too was ousted at the end of 6.03. Most fans agreed at the time that this was almost the exact point where the show went irredeemably off the rails, never to recover. (Thanks Bucky) As bad as it got, TB could have been saved from an ignominious ending by a few strategic and shocking twists. Alas it was not to be simply because of overly sensitive egos.

Maybe so. I'll say probably so, since you sound informed and I don't feel like checking for myself.

But, I think "the killer is someone else" is a bit too much to read into it. I think it's likelier that Rene really is the killer, any inconsistencies were just meant to be ignored in favor of that, and the general lack of cohesiveness is because this show, while entertaining, isn't a masterpiece in consistent writing, and the books they were based on, if you've read them (which I have) are REALLY not a masterpiece in consistent writing.
