can someone whose seen this give me a reason why this wasn't nominated for an oscar.(ugg doesn't that sound like every year and everybody who lives in a city with an arthouse cinema or two)

it might as well be someone's life work. someone, who just happens to be brilliant and most importantly understanding/ empathetic on a saints level.

actually i dont even want an answer... b/c someone would just say that its too long/looks a lil flawed, which means that its just not the normal hollywood oscar formula that people are forced to enjoy. I hope its those factors and not just a moral bias from religion.

I was almost sure this would be nominated for an Oscar. I was glad to see 'Taxi To The Dark Side' nominated. But then I realized that it is the movie that probably bumped this movie out of the list of nominees. This so derved a nod from the Academy. It is the most honest, unflinching look at abortion in the US ever filmed. It has flaws, sure. But what a tour de force.

As amazing of a documentary as this seems to be (I haven't seen it yet, it's on my Netfilx queue!), the only negative critique (aside from the nutters on both sides) is that it does not do anything to progress or enhance the current debate of the issue. That may have kept it back from being nominated. I was also disappointed that it did not make it to the Oscar short list.

Was it around early enough? It may qualify for the next Oscar season. Not that I care about the Oscars anyway. :-/
