I would like to ask these pro lifers their view on other issues

These people seemed to be extremely sensitive when it came to fetuses, so I started wondering if they kill flies, or mosquitos, or if they go hunting and fishing, or if they eat meat (and ecpecially from fast food restaurants).
Because it is true that in the U.S. cows are fed by holes in their stomach, chickens are being genetically modified to get larger (till they can't walk), dogs are being returned to shelters where they get euthanasia (usually in gus chambers), and farms have been replaced by factories. Of course these are not the only incidents happening every day so that Americans can have their burgers and hot dogs.
So I guess that since somebody cares so much about a fetus, would care even more about all these animals that have developped insticts and feelings, and are beeing exploited and killed by mankind.
I'm sure they haven't even considered this thought. In the end why is a fetus considered most important than a mosquito? They are both living creatures that serve an ecosystem.

I would also really like to ask pro-lifers their view on the fact that America has invaded 35 countries in the past 50 years, all for money and oil, killing thousand of children that have actually been born (and certainly pregnant women carrying fetuses).

Also what about the 11.000 deaths/ year due to gunfire? (while in Europe and Asia, most countries have about 150 deaths/year). What about everybody having a gun for "safety" and in the end killing each other and turning America to a dangerous place, as the gun industry grows richer?

And at last, what about the health system? What about the fact that in America, the richest country on Earth, between 20,000 and 45,000 Americans die each year due to a lack of health insurance?

Just some thoughts from somebody who lives in Europe and observes things from afar, without being brainwashed by the media! Try not to believe your politicians cause all they do is for money

Kill yourself liberal scum

That's what someone on the right who doesn't know how to debate would say. I however am willing to answer your questions

reply

Personally, I respect the fact that you want to create an open discussion, here goes

reply

Answer to your first question: babies aren't killed for food. Hunting is for food, I am against sport hunting. I could easily turn the argument around. If you're so concerned for the lives of living beings, then why are you so vehemently pro-choice

reply

2. Wars bring casualties. The murder of unarmed children and civilians in wars is unacceptable and is treated as a war crime.

3. If guns are taken away then criminals will resort to other weapons, besides underground arms dealing won't stop

reply

Socialized Healthcare isn't really the best idea, long waits so the worst emergencies could be waiting for HOURS

This opening statement was satirical, hopefully you understand that, I'm parodying the people who's only answer to an open debate is "kys"

As I think was said in the film, the abortion debate strikes right into the heart of the human condition. Human beings whose brains are wired correctly will naturally feel a certain amount of empathy toward their fellows, or even things in which we find a sense of humanity, like a pet animal. And this sense of empathy makes it very hard for us to want to do harm to those things. Not that this sense of empathy cannot be overcome, but it usually starts with convincing ourselves that the thing is less than human. We see this in genocides - the people being eradicated are not human, they are vermin who must be destroyed. And it is often the case in abortion, too - it is not a person until it is born. Therefore, killing it is OK.

It's never going to be totally settled as an issue. I'm not totally anti-abortion - I can understand that there are times when it's medically advisable, but out my sense of empathy, I'd much rather it be done when the pregnancy is at the stage where it is little more than a clump of flesh that has not yet attained anything you could call consciousness. After that stage, it's a lot harder to condone it.

To say to the pro-lifers 'Oh, but do you kill flies' is to really ignore the fact that humans are walking contradictions, too. You could just as easily ask a pro-choice person if they'd ever kill their pet dog if it ever became inconvenient to have around. I'm sure you know what the answer would be.
