I don't understand why people hate this movie.

I'm watching it now and I'm in constant hysterics. The idea of two middle aged men living with their parents and having the mentality of teenagers is just outrageously funny. Their complete lack of responsibility and niave out look on the adult world is hysterical. I mean some of the dialogue...

mother "we're moving house"

JC "Why! why!"

WF "Because its haunted?"

reply

Because some people are ducking fumb is why they hate it.

This movie is hilarious. It's twenty thousand times more funny than Tucker and Dale vs Evil. Now that movie is pretty bland for most of it's running time.

I think there's an element of mass hysteria, specifically the critics come out and pan it, so lots of people decide it's "right" to hate it, so they do. Like at a funeral, the first person who cries sets off a cascade effect.

Look, this movie is completely preposterous, a setup where two professional people let 40 something moocher children hang around and keep it up. So what. James Bond movies are completely preposterous, and people eat them up. Sometimes you just have to take stuff at face value and go with it. Kathryn Hahn alone is worth a watch on this one, e.g. "stay golden, Pony Boy". Within the preposterous setup it's all about the lines/scenes and how they're performed, and most of them are funny and get pulled off.
