I immediately thought of that short story when the youngest brother was wide awake, frozen with fear, because the snake was missing. You could tell he'd been like that a while, haha.

I'm sure it was an intentional nod to the story, since Anderson did Fantastic Mr. Fox.

If your unfamiliar, i recommend it. Dahl has lots of great short stories.

i've read most of Dahl's short stories, though not that one, however, i do recognize it as either an old Twilight Zone or Alfred Hitchcock episode. I know Dahl wrote a few of those.
