$3000 Loafers?
Do we learn what these kids do for a living? They all seem very well-off and he even talks about having really expensive shoes. And Jack living abroad for a year also suggests this...
btw... loved this movie

The seemed to come from a very wealthy family. Jack was a writer. Don't know about the other two.
Om Mani Padme Hum
Id say they come from a wealthy family. It makes sense when you look at their personalities. They are good people, but they remind me of those crazy rich people who jump from one spiritual journey to the next to easy their guilt for being so well off. And their characters make even more sense when you meet the woman who raised them! God, Wes Anderson knows how to make movies!
shareI still wouldn't think that his loafers cost $3000. Owen's character imo exaggerated prices a bit, remember the scene were he says he paid $6000 for his belt? Even if they were wealthy, who wears a $6000 belt & a $3000 loafers? And then wears them to India ON a spiritual journey?

I'm pretty sure they are Prada moccasins, like this:

These cost about 850 dollars new. 950 tops.
Expensive shoes to take on holiday, I guess the family were wealthy given the luggage.
Its that man again!!
