My family and I watched this little part over and over laughing until there were tears: the little wolf girl picking up Johnny's scent on his shirt...... Knowing all those details.... Too funny!!!!

I really hated the Johnny character. He is a doofus. I felt so bad that Mavis actually wanted to go traveling somewhere with him at the end. The daddy dracula has made a big mistake and should have allowed yhat idiot to leave.
shareCorrect. He's chickened and left her just because her dad once said that he's going to suck his blood dry. Even though he saw it and experienced it himself, that mr. dracula doesn't kill human. He's a coward and he didn't try hard enough, to be worthy of Mavis.

That's the common "bad writing". They wanted Drac to face Mavis was in love and go risk his life to bring the guy back.
And for him to go on the journey, they needed the guy to leave and take a plane. That's the only reason.
See that she also just stayed sad at home. She never questioned him saying he hates monters after partying with them, and never left to look for him.
I like the part when Drac asks the Wolfman "Do any of your children actually respect you" in a weary voice. Too funny.

But my absolute favorit part is when Mavis is able to see the sun rising for the first time! Her eyes sparkling, reflecting the light, the warmth in her face, the look like her soul was awakend!
