Seriously why are they calling it 'holiday'

Weird that they'd use that for an American film. Saying holiday instead of vacation will always sound off to me, and clearly its already confused people

reply

Holiday is more universally recognised.

reply

Not in America it isn't. Only for those that have watched a lot of BBC America.

reply

America is just one country. Netflix is global.

reply

OP specifically was referring to America.

reply

As I said, Netflix is global.

reply

Maybe Reubens is a fan of Rowan Atkinson? Or perhaps they didn't want people to confuse it with that crappy "Vacation" requel?

Ohhhhh no! There goes Tokyo! Go, go Godzilla!

reply

Maybe Americans should learn the vernacular of other countries and accept that the universe doesn't revolve around the United States? Just a thought.

reply

Yes. I'm here reading this and laughing at how awful we Americans are with reading comprehension. A couple people here need to lookup, "universe" in the dictionary. Books to most us (not me now) is what garlic and crosses are to Vampires. Where I live virtually no one reads. I barely learned anything school and one day I decided to unlearn, and learn everything I missed out on because talking to people online and admitting you didn't know who Tolkien was scary! Only being able to locate America, Cuba, and the boot, err Italy, was an example of how undereducated was.

This is my message to you UK people. We know we are generally undereducated but too proud to admit it, if that makes any sense. But hey! It's pretty hard to focus on your studies when the teachers don't teach because the students don't want to learn because of being too busy worrying about a screwed up household, or walking to school without getting your but kicked or being chased by thieves. Like the X song goes, "We're desperate, get used to it!" Hah The replies here should be interesting

The uk gave the world David Bowie.
America in return gives to world Lady GaGa.

says it all really.

reply

Actually, the American Revolution said it all.

That said, I love the UK. America has been infinitely enriched culturally by what you've contributed and there's no denying you've been enriched by our contributions as well.

I'm from Cleveland, the city that broke Bowie in the States. My all-time favorite band is ELO. And you can have Lady GaGa, if you want her.

reply

and you can have Lady GaGa, if you want her.

I don't think anybody wants her, you shouldn't have let her loose.

reply

Here's the weird thing: wouldn't David Bowie have loved her?

reply

The uk gave the world David Bowie.

They also gave us The Spice Girls...

America, FK yeah....comin' again to save the MFKN day, yeah...

Who's strangling the cat?

reply

True!

Americans are quite possibly the most ignorant people that exist today. And that's no embellishment. There might more ignorant people to be found, of course, but you'd have to visit 3rd world countries to find them. As far as a people who have been to school and who are not impoverished, it's hard to find a greater level of extreme and brutal ignorance. The average European knows more about American history than most Americans do.

Not all of them, obviously, but the majority.

I was in Alabama, years ago, and after talking to people for a few days, it seemed to us we were visiting a place which was populated almost solely by those with high-level/functional retardation, with just a small sprinkling of exceptions.

Now I ask you...am I making this up?

I only wish we'd had been lucky enough to meet these two angels:

The one on the right is especially alluring. Strangely, I'd never actually seen forehead fat before. Now I have. I think it's delightful!

GO TEAM AMERICA!

We weren't confused.

Maybe some cities and states use the term and maybe some don't.
